Escape the Busy City at Nongsa Point Marina & Resort

Nongsa Batam is one of the 17,000 islands of Indonesia and located Northeast of Batam city. With miles of coastline, serene beaches, and natural tropical forests holiday possibilities are endless. Nongsa Point Marina & Resort is the door to Indonesia. With its excellent location, beach, nature, and boating opportunities, guests have the chance to experience a myriad of local activities as the resort is within close proximity to Singapore, making it a perfect choice to escape busy city life.

Located 19 km (11 mi) off Singapore‘s south coast, the resort is easily accessible by both sea and air. Nongsapura Ferry Terminal in Nongsa is 35 minutes from Tanah Merah Ferry center located off the coast of Singapore and provides tourists direct transfer. Hang Nadim airport is only 10-minutes from the resort and provides daily flights through major cities in Indonesia.

From the second I climbed out of the van I knew this was going to be a great destination. Waiting for me with smiles and a welcome drink were members of the Nongsa Point Marina & Resort staff. I immediately felt welcomed as they explained the resort, where I could find things, and times for meals and events. Check-in was extremely easy and I was shown to my room – a very comfortable and modern deluxe, sea view with a wonderful balcony just a few feet away from the ocean. With touches of traditional Indonesian decor, a wonderfully comfortable bed, and fast and efficient room service, my first day at the resort was immensely relaxing.

On my second day I was upgraded to an executive suite; it was a wonderful surprise and quite an upgrade! The massive suite had a separate seating area with lounges and a mini kitchen. The en-suite bathroom included a luxurious deep tub, double sink vanity, and separate shower. The massive king sized bed was enveloped in wonderfully soft linens and had a view of the marina and beach. It was hard for me to leave so I could enjoy the rest of the resort.

The balcony afforded me a view of the marina with her many yachts tucked into their slips and I couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous of the incredible journeys I could imagine them taking.

Nongsa Point Marina & Resort boasts a massive winding pool that seems to go on forever. It has varying degrees of depth, which makes it perfect for all levels of swimmers. They also have a kid’s wading pool and plenty of loungers. Because of its size I often felt like I had the pool to myself.

Selera Restaurant is open 24 hours, convenient when you have a middle of the night sweet attack! It’s an open aired eatery that serves freshly prepared international food. It’s also where the breakfast buffet is served each morning. I enjoyed all of my meals sitting at a table overlooking the marina and ocean and saw a couple of wonderful sunsets from my vantage point.

For guests in the mood to unwind with a cocktail the resort offers Samudra Bar. With its flat screen TV, pool table, and poolside menu, the bar is great to catch up with friends and family while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.

There’s an onsite dive shop that offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a variety of water sports. Their knowledgeable staff can organize all diving, fishing, and island cruises. They also offer a basic dinghy sailing course and the opportunity to get a PADI certification in diving.

The resort has a small convenience store that stocks snacks, wines and beer, souvenirs, and many items that can often be forgotten during packing.

Batam is home to seven international standard golf courses and one driving range. The immaculately kept courses are a golfer’s paradise and the staff at Nongsa Point Marina & Resort is happy to assist in organizing trips for their guests. Conveniently located mere steps from the resort is a course designed by Jack Nicklaus making it the perfect home base for the avid golfer.

The grounds, pool, and rooms are very well maintained, as are the restaurant and bar. The resort is quite large with hillside villas, deluxe rooms, two and three bedroom chalets, a three bedroom apartment, and executive suites. It’s perfect for a honeymoon, girl’s getaway, or a group/tour visit. They can also organize an outside wedding with gorgeous backdrops of the Singapore Strait. In my opinion, what makes or breaks a wonderful vacation is the service. Nongsa Point Marina & Resort’s staff is exceptional. They made every minute of my stay a fantastic one. They were attentive, kind, and genuinely happy to help. Their smiles were contagious and I found myself eager to speak to them each day.

I would highly recommend a visit to this resort for any occasion. Run away and escape the busy city at Nongsa Point Marina & Resort.
