Life of Freedom

I was raised, like many people, to believe money is an accurate representation of success and happiness. I was also taught that hard work would garner reward, so I busted my ass for years working 9 to 5 (or 9 to 9) as I scaled my way up the career ladder. Eventually I did reach a high-level plateau that many would call successful. I had a beautiful home, successful day spa, a house full of beautiful ‘stuff’…the whole nine yards.

Like most people, my life has been riddled with struggle and grief. A few years ago I hit a truly low period when my mother passed away. Just the week before we had a conversation about my desire to give everything up and travel the world. I had fully expected her to greet my confession with laughter or even chiding – but she surprised me by instead telling me to go for it. It shocked me at the time but after her passing it all came back to me with great clarity.

I had spent my entire life chasing a dream that was imposed upon me instead of pursuing something that was truly important to me on a personal level. While I had achieved professional success, I felt very lacking in nearly every other way. Travel had always been a huge part of my life and I always had a passionate curiosity to see the world. Suddenly I knew with every fiber of my being what I had to do.

Life of Freedom

Losing my mom brought forth all the questions that go hand in hand with mortality. Why am I here? What have I accomplished thus far? If I die tomorrow, will I feel content with the time I’ve had here? The answers I came up with were very short and simple and I knew it was time to heed my mom’s blessing and live my dream.

It would take some serious planning and hardcore sacrifice but my husband, Michael, and I decided we had to go for it. I researched what expenditures we would need money for and we calculated up a rough amount of how much we would need to start off with. We had some savings but nothing much to really help in our endeavors. I looked into ways others had set out for a life of freedom discovered there were so many opportunities to work online, if you just looked. And the best part, you could do it with just a laptop and WiFi connection which suited our future lifestyle perfectly!

Michael and I gave up going out to eat, shopping, and all entertainment. We were fully committed to making this happen so yes sometimes it was tough but we stuck to our guns. After 12 months of scrimping and saving we had a decent sum saved so we sold everything and took off.

Life of Freedom

Since ditching our office jobs and finding our freedom, we have been to more than 45 countries, stayed in some of the world’s finest most luxurious hotels, and have shared some ridiculously exotic meals with extremely interesting people. Quite literally, every day is an adventure and neither of us would ever trade it for anything in the world. We now have the world – right in the palms of our hands. We have no permanent mailing address and we love it. Anywhere and everywhere is home and we have the ability to set up “shop” and make money from wherever we are staying for the night. Looking back on it, I don’t know how I survived as long as I did living my life based on what someone else supposed might make me happy. Now I finally truly happy and I have the power to make and change my dreams on a daily basis.

I’m here now to share my story and experiences with you so you can live your dream, as well. Too often people think that only privileged or wealthy people could have such an opportunity knock on their door, but the hard fact of the matter is that we create our own opportunities. I want to help you find your passion, what makes you happy, and help you make those dreams come true – starting today.
