I’ve been to so many countries that I’ve lost count. Yet, which each country that I tick off I seem to add another to my travel bucket list.

I’ve visited the David in Florence, swam with whale sharks in Cebu, trekked with Gorillas in Rwanda, and slept in a luxurious over the water bungalow in the Maldives.

So you might think, what’s left for her to do? Well…my bucket list grows every day!

Here are my top five bucket list destinations and why I want to visit them.

Fiji

If you follow me regularly you’ll know that I’m a beach girl! (I’m playing fast and loose with the word “girl” here!) So Fiji seems like it would be not just an obvious but a logical choice for me.

However, it’s the culture that I really want to immerse myself into. The inhabitants of Fiji are multi cultural. But the Indigenous Fijians originated from the Lapita people who were groups of nautical groups that originated from Eastern Indonesia and the Philippines.

It’s believed that they arrived on the Fijian islands during the second millennium and, for lack of a better word, hooked up with Melanesians and Polynesians.

Before hopping on a flight that will take you to the various smaller islands of Fiji, stay a night or two on the main island and check out what it has to offer.

Garden of the Sleeping Giant I’m told is a must visit and something I’ve got to see. Raymond Burr (You know, Perry Mason) created this botanical preserve where visitors can find vanilla scented Orchids.

I definitely want to experience the open markets where fresh fruits, vegetables, local textiles, and crafts can be found.

A day cruise of the surrounding islands is on my list of things to do as well as a helicopter tour to see all the topography has to offer.

I’m definitely going to hit up some resorts for some sponsorships. The Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort is a must for me!

Crete

I’m fascinated by ancient Greek history. Greek Mythology has captivated me for years and Troy is a movie I’ve seen 100 times!

It’s believed that Crete has been inhabited since 8000 BC! Its language was influenced by Venetians and Turks and, as with most variations of languages, the Greek spoken in Crete is distinguished by its accent.

I’m told the food is hard to explain but dishes that are a must try are;

A few of the tours I want to take while I’m there incorporate beach and mountains.

I can’t wait to walk among the seaside fortresses built by Romans and Venetians with influences from Arabic Byzantine pirates in the 8th and 9th century. The ruins of the Palace of Knossos are a must for me!

I won’t finish up on Crete without visiting the gorgeous beaches that surround the island.

Seychelles

I’ve been invited by the Seychelles tourism board to visit this unique island off the east of mainland East Africa and since this has been on my bucket list for a while, I sent an astounding YES!

Aride Island Nature Reserve is a must for me. I’m not an extreme hiker but I can walk forever so this is a must.

As is the Cousin Island Special Reserve and Curieuse Marine National Park.

I’ve got to indulge in local food wherever I go and on the Seychelles, I’ve been told that I must try the African, French, Chinese, Indian and English cooking that is indigenous to the island.

As with most islands, seafood is the predominant food source as is vegetables including pumpkin, green mangoes or eggplant all of which I happen to love.

And, as only I can do, I plan on visiting the shit out the beaches and getting a tan that beats all tans!

The Ultimate Crystal Cruise

This is a biggy for me! This 256-day cruise with the penthouse cabin that I want costs a whopping $590,882.00! Yep, you read that correctly, more than a half a million dollars! (that price does include airfare and food!)

It’s my biggest dream and one that I will continue to work towards until I get it.

I’m like a dog wit ha bone and when I want something I will do everything in my power to get it so…keep following me, it make take me some time but you’ll see me posting about it!

My list is a big one and I add to it all the time but, in the interest of keeping this post relatively short, the last travel bucket list item I will mention is…

Although I have been on an African Safari, one of my dreams is to take a luxury safari.

Not any safari with luxury accommodations but one where a luxury tent is set up in the bush. I know, I know, you’re probably thinking…well, who the hell are you?

It’s my travel bucket list and I can have on it anything I want!

The thing is…I also want this to be eco-friendly. I don’t want to disturb the natural state of anything. When I say a luxury tent, I meant it. I can have all the amenities and still be eco and animal-friendly!

It’s my dream to sleep under the endless African night sky listening to the wildlife live around me. (With the appropriate amount of armed guards to watch over me so I don’t become Lion food, of course!)

So there you have it… My Travel Bucket List – What Destinations Are On Yours?
