My latest trip to an YTL Hotel property couldn’t have come at a better time. I’d just gone through a huge life change and was dealing with its aftermath when the opportunity came for me to experience the new ‘Return To Yourself Retreat” offered by Spa Village Resort Tembok, Bali presented itself.

Located in the serene village of Tembok, the resort is nestled along the black sand coast of Northeast Bali’s volcanic mountains. The three-hour drive from Bali’s international airport took me through traditional Balinese villages, lush tropical landscapes, and expansive seascapes. With each mile my excitement grew for my Return To Yourself Retreat at Spa Village Resort Tembok, Bali.

 

Traditionally dressed staff announced my arrival with the sound of a gong and I was immediately directed to a section of the reception area where I received a wonderfully soothing foot massage, fruit drink, and painless check in process.

I enjoyed privacy in the Baruna villa. With high thatched ceilings, a wonderfully deep soaking tub, king sized bed, private pool, and a delightfully comfortable outside covered lounging bed… it was my own remote sanctuary.

Each type of accommodation the resort offers is elegantly designed with modern luxury and Balinese tradition. Encompassing the island’s natural beauty, every room, suite, and villa is expertly decorated to invite a sense of tranquility. As part of my package I ate beautifully prepared healthy cuisine adding to the wholesome experience.

Definitely sign up for the Starlight Gazing where you’ll float weightlessly on air mattresses in the pool taking in nature’s magnificent display of a million stars while a perfect selection of music softly plays in the background.

Visiting guest practitioners guide participants through a wide selection of therapies, meditation, yoga, acupuncture, aquassage, and restorative massages. I’d recommend trying a different one each day!

I highly recommend the Massage Under The Stars! With the smooth sounds of the ocean washing up on the soft black sand inches away, the warm sea breeze cascading over my body, and the expert hands of my knowledgeable masseur, I felt I’d gone to heaven.

As I mentioned my visit to the resort was to experience the new Return To Yourself Retreat the resort was introducing to the pubic. I was intrigued by what it had to offer and looked forward to relaxing; I had just experienced a rough patch in my personal life and this opportunity came at the perfect time.

Waiting for me when I arrived was Savitri Talahatu, the wellness director who designed the program. She is a brilliant Yoga instructor, lifestyle coach, spiritual healer, and Reiki Master.

Her gentle spirit, knowledge of yoga, and love of life are palpable; I was immediately drawn to her. She created a program specifically for me; making sure that I would benefit most from each treatment, session, and tour that was given.

Savitri selflessly presented me her complete attention and I found that an unspoken bond developed between us. Her healing spirit encompassed me with warmth, understanding, and peace and I found myself waking each morning eager to spend time with her.

Hours passed by like minutes as she guided me through the tools I needed to find harmony and peace within my life. And by the last day I had a sense of serenity I’ve never experienced before.

I spent four days with Savitri and each day was filled with healing sunrise yoga sessions, soul searching guided meditation, indulgent and healing spa treatments, and cultural tours that imparted the ageless wisdom of ancient Balinese rituals. She spent countless hours exposing me to her insight and perception into the human spirit.

During my time at the retreat I learned acceptance, awareness of self, and how to recognize and find my bliss. This experience and Savitri’s beautiful spirit and counseling will stay with me forever and I couldn’t be more grateful to Spa Village Resort Tembok for offering such a unique and brilliant encounter and for the privilege of meeting Savitri.
