Asia is full of rich culture and history. Since moving here I’ve had the privilege of seeing some amazing attractions and learning some of its legacy. Here is a list of must see attractions in Asia.
Dynasties of China
China is a fascinating country made up of thousands of years of history. Travelers can witness its evolution through the years, which have been marked by Dynasties. Each one has imprinted China with unique moments in time. Viewing a timeline on the Chinese dynasties is a fantastic way to relive some of the poignant moments of China’s history.
Temple of Reclining Buddha
If you’re a fist time visitor to Bangkok a visit to this unique attraction is a must. Located in one of the largest temples in Thailand, Wat Pho, the 46 meters (150 ft.) long reclining Buddha, is completely covered in gold leaf. Make sure you take the time to wander around, there are plenty of other attractions scattered on the grounds.
No trip to Cambodia is complete without a trip to Angkor Wat. The temple complex is the largest religious monument in the world and the filming grounds to the famous Laura Croft movie. It was originally created as a Hindu temple but slowly converted into a Buddhist temple near the end of the 12th century. Take your time here…there is a plethora of hidden crevices and nooks to explore!
Cu Chi Tunnels
There are several fantastic attractions and things to do in Vietnam but one of my favorites is a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels. This vast network of connecting underground tunnels is located 40 km (25 mi.) northwest of Ho Chi Minh City in Saigon. Viet Cong guerrillas used the tunnels during the Vietnam War as the base of operations for the Tet Offensive and as a hiding location for soldiers and weapons in 1968. Visitors are encouraged to crawl around its safer portions making it a popular tourist attraction.
