Ecstasy at The Surin Phuket

With exquisite design and regal elegance, The Surin Phuket lies in the midst of a lush, emerald tropical hillside. Nestled along a powdered white sand cove on the Andaman Sea, the tranquil serenity is second to none.

With its one and two bedroom hillside cottages and beachfront suites, the resort is perfect for couples, families, and small groups. I stayed in a hillside one-bedroom cottage and its sophisticated style made it hard for me to want to leave my room. With plush amenities, the generous space was decorated in a contemporary yet comfortable grace.

The resort boasts four restaurants extending different cuisines, ensuring something for every palette. The Lomtalay Thai Restaurant is situated directly across from the reception area and overlooks the pool and the beach. In the morning it’s where guests enjoy an impressive breakfast buffet. But each evening the Restaurant transforms into a refined Thai restaurant that serves authentic, freshly prepared local delicacies. The sunset on the Andaman Sea adds to the restaurant’s allure.

The Sunset Café open from noon till midnight, serves a casual menu consisting of Asian and International cuisine. Close to both the pool and beach, guests can enjoy light snacks, healthy selections, or a juicy burger and fries. With seating both outside and inside the tropical setting is a wonderful place to relax over a leisurely lunch or snack.

In the evening while strolling barefoot in the soft, cool sand I happened upon the Beach Restaurant located on the periphery of the resort. The perfect manicured lawn scattered with candle lit, elegantly set tables is the epitome of romance. The freshly prepared al fresco menu, cool sea breeze, and sounds of gentle waves make it an ideal venue for an intimate celebration or special occasion.

Want to unwind, engage with friends, or meet new ones? The Beach Bar is an awesome place to do just that. During the day the staff is happy to serve snacks and drinks right to your sun lounger. The huge bar and tables, scattered in the sand, are a great place to enjoy a break from the sun and a cocktail. At sunset I enjoyed happy hour with a menu of delicious drinks. The totally relaxed atmosphere invites friendliness and it wasn’t uncommon to see total strangers chatting and laughing. I saw the ever-attentive staff playing with kids in the sand, giving the parents a chance to reconnect.

The Surin offers guests a variety of onsite activities for those who want to do more than unplug and soak in the sun. They have a fully equipped gym, Boutique, a wide range of water sports, two tennis courts with floodlights for night matches and for those who like to relax while playing a round of golf, the staff happily organizes trips to one of the five international standard golf courses on Phuket. There is literally something for everyone at the resort.

I’ve been to Phuket many times and this is, hands down, my favorite resort. It’s staff is impeccable, the accommodations are second to none, and the cuisine is exceptional. It really is pure ecstasy at The Surin Phuket!
