Simply nothing beats the fun or the privacy that can be found aboard a sailing vessel. Of course, there are many excellent places to partake in this activity around the globe including places such as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the British Virgin Islands, and on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Great Barrier Reef in particular is well-known for both its colorful coral and its abundance of marine animals. Of course, tour groups only have time to go to certain spots that can be easily accessed from the main shoreline and itineraries often look much the same no matter which company you select.
But travelers that go under their own steam can easily find secluded spots where the wildlife is bound to be far more plentiful and have the option of staying multiple nights if they so desire.
Meanwhile, the British Virgin Islands are a good place for the novice sailor to practice their skills because nowhere in this archipelago are aspiring boat captains going to lose sight of the shoreline. For more experienced sailors, the glittering shores of the Mediterranean beckon.
Travelers can choose from a wide variety of popular stops including islands in Croatia and Greece or the shores of the French Rivera.
Other interesting sailing destinations travelers should consider include the Galapagos Islands, the Nile River, New Zealand, Zanzibar, and Tahiti.
